Chicken Korma is a popular dish in Bangladesh & other parts of Asia. There are many variations of this dish depending on the level of sweetness and hotness preferred by different people. This preparation is not very sweet and medium hot as I used mild Green chillis. Add more sugar if you prefer so and skip on some Chillis if you like it that way.

Ingredients:

Chicken – 1kg

White onion chopped – 1 medium

White onion paste – 1&1/2 medium

Bay leaves -3

Cinnamon sticks -2

Cardamoms -2

Cloves – 3-4

Salt – 1& 1/4 Tea Spoon (Or to taste)

Ginger garlic paste – 2 & 2/1 Tea Spoons

Thick Yogurt – 4 Tea Spoons

Cumin powder – 1 Tea Spoon

Potatoes – 3-4 Medium

Green chillis – 8-9 (Or to preference)

Ghee or Butter – 3 Tea Spoons (2 Tea Spoons for frying potatoes) (1 Tea Spoon for Chicken)

Step 1: Step 1

Ingredients:

Chicken – 1kg

White onion chopped – 1 medium White onion paste – 1&1/2 medium Bay leaves -3 Cinnamon sticks -2 Cardamoms -2 Cloves – 3-4 Salt – 1& 1/4 Tea Spoon (Or to taste) Ginger garlic paste – 2 & 2/1 Tea Spoons Thick Yogurt – 4 Tea Spoons Cumin powder – 1 Tea Spoon Potatoes – 3-4 Medium Green chillis – 8-9 (Or to preference) Ghee or Butter – 3 Tea Spoons (2 Tea Spoons for frying potatoes) (1 Tea Spoon for Chicken) Oil

Step 2: Step 2

Put Oil in hot pan & a then add whole spices (Bay leaves, cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamoms) & 2 Green chilli.

Add sliced onions & let it cook for couple of minutes.

Add salt & ginger garlic paste and cook until translucent.

Add Onion paste and cook until gets dry.

Step 3: Step 3

When gravy starts to get dry, add little water and let it cook with lid on. Repeat this process of adding water and cooking for 4-5 times.

Step 4: Step 4

Add Chicken, stir and let it cook for 10 minutes.

Step 5: Step 5

Add Yogurt, Sugar & Green Chillis. Stir and put the lid on and cook for another 10 minutes. Adding Green chillis is optional. Video


Step 6: Step 6

In the meantime, season potatoes with salt. Put ghee or butter in hot pan and fry the potatoes. When potatoes are brown from all the sides, add some water and put lid on to let it cook until it's soft.

Step 7: Step 7

Add potatoes to Chicken, some more Green chillis if you like and give a stir. Sprinkle some Cumin powder on top and Chicken korma is done.
