In this Instructable, I will introduce how to design the simple one —— Acacia lock. It contained 6 pieces, printing them used a layer height of 0.2 mm. Then, assemble them together.The pieces have been designed with a small bevel on the edges and a slight offset to give a snug fit (but this may vary on your printer).

It looks very simple, but difficult to assemble them. Let's design and play with it!!

Step 1: Draw the Sketch Shape

This is a very good example to use grid create the accurate shape.

Look at the shape of the pieces, draw the grid under it, you will find there are a lot of squares forming various shapes.

So, draw the sketch in 123D Design reference to the grid plane.

Step 2: Extrude Profiles

Select all the profiles and extrude them at the same, extrude height is 5mm.

Step 3: Setup Clearance

The pieces have been designed a slight offset for all the touch face to give a snug fit. The clearance is 0.2mm

But this may vary on your printer. Suggest you can test before print all of them.

Step 4: Bevel on the Edges

Designed with a small bevel on the edges of all the pieces.

Step 5: Print and Play

You can print out them in one shot if your printer platform is enough.

Then, play with it!!

Step 6: Other Types

Design other types of the locks, play them.
