Introduction: A Cat's White House.

About: I Love Making Stuff !!

You will need

A large sturdy wooden base. Mine was an old school desk.

1x1 or 1x2 ich wood. Light wooden board or old cladding for the sides.

Offcut of perspex.

Roofing felt and 90 degree wooden edging.

A cat flap (optional)

White paint.

All available from your local hardware store.

Step 1: The Problem

Our Cars loved sleeping in our green house, so much so we put little beds in there for them. But we were moving the greenhouse so the cats needed a new place to sleep.

So I designed the White House!

Step 2: The Foundations

Measure out the floor plan of your house on the base.

Mine had two areas one for each cat.

Cut bits of wood for the base and sides and roof like in the photos, Making a triangle each end for the roof. Screw them together for extra strength.

I used two upright bits of wood to secure the cat flap and added a little wall from OSB board.

Step 3: Add Sides and Make Sure You're Cats Happy and Fits.

Cut fit and screw in on the sides and make sure your cat fits and its happy !!

Step 4: The Roof & Windows

For the Roof I covered some board with felt and edged it with 90 degree wooden edging.

Added little porch and the front using some dowl.

I cut the windows of with a jig saw and glued some perspex on inside for the windows. Add bit tiny bit of wood for the window sills.

Give it a nice paint up with white paint.

and its ready to go.

Step 5: Introducing It to Your Cat

It took about two week before the cats got the idea it was for them.

I made sure the bedding was warm and dry and left treats out for them, Now they use it all the time.

Step 6: How Could It Be Made Better?

I wanted to add a reptile heat mat inside and put it on a timer. But my wife said it's ridiculous!

Happy Building !!
