Introduction: Altoids Tin Ipod Case

in this instructable you will learn how to make an altoids tin in to a ipod case. this is my first one so please leve feedback on how to make better.

Step 1: What You Need

yoy will need

1. an ipod nano or anything else you can get to fit (ipod mini is to big) The 3rd gen ipod (short and fat) will fit in too, but you will have to change the way you cut the foam. the newest ipod may fit, but i haven't tried it.

2. A drill bit as big as the end of a pair of headphones and a drill.

3. Styrofoam(to pad the ipod nano)

4. duct tape

Step 2: Shape the Styrafoam

shape the Styrofoam so it will fit in the Altoids tin. (roughly 3.5in by 2.25 in)

use a knife to shape out a cradle for the ipod nano. (.26 inches deep)

Step 3: Drill the Hole

insert the Styrofoam into the tin. take the Altoids tin and mark a dot about 1/4 of an inch from the top and 1/2 inch from the corner. check this by putting your pod in the case and centering the hole to the headphone jack. (sorry about the sucky picture quality, it was taken from my phone)

Step 4: Duct Tape It Up (and Show It Off!)

take the duct tape and cover up the Styrofoam and let it run over a little so it holds the Styrofoam in. tape up all the edges to prevent it from scratching up your ipod (or you). now insert your ipod and start to listen to the minty cool music of your ipod minty. take it to school or work and amaze people about how cool your ipod now is. (it also serves as and almost indestructible case, but it only pads it if you use the Styrofoam.
