Introduction: BBQ Sauce

About: I'm a hack, not an expert on any one subject.

This BBQ sauce is made with the meat drippings and juices from my other Instructable, BBQ: JUICY AND TASTY. This is not a quick and easy sauce, it will take time but it is well worth it.

Step 1: Ingredients

Juices from the BBQ meat - You can use soup stock about 1 quart

KC BBQ sauce - bottle off the shelf about 16 oz

4 onions - cut in quarters or eights

Hydrated chopped onions - 1/2 cup

Apple juice - 1 quart

Spices - I used some of the dry meat rub (2 tsp) with; pepper (2 pinches), salt (2 pinches), cumin (pinch), and cinnamon (2 pinches).

Step 2: Mix

Pour the BBQ drippings into a sauce pan, add the onions, add apple juice, add the dehydrated copped onions, and add in the spices.

Step 3: Simmer

Mix it over lo to mid/lo heat, you'll want to simmer to remove most of the water. Stir it and keep it from building up on the sides and bottom of the pan. I cover it up and would stir it about ever 5-10 minutes.

Step 4: Finish

I let the sauce simmer for about 2-3 hours till it was thick enough for sauce. It is best to serve the sauce warm for any type of BBQ(wet or dry). Serve the sauce in a dish or pan with a ladle, don't bottle it due to the large chunks of onions. I freeze the remaining sauce in a gallon zipper bag and use it within the next 2-3 weeks.
