Introduction: Behind the Scenes: How We Control Those Nifty In-ceiling Lights

About: Developer at Electric Imp

So yesterday, I posted a clip of myself controlling some in-ceiling RGB lights with the Electric Imp. Some folks have been quite interested in how the actual controlling is done, so here's a quick peek at the guts of that in-ceiling fixture. The setup uses an impee called "Quinn", one of our upcoming reference designs.

Quinn can drive 6 high-current PWM signals via some very nice FETs we put on the board, and the design also includes space for clamping diodes so that the board can be used to drive inductive loads, like motors, without damaging the FETs. Stay tuned for upcoming info on this and other designs!
