Introduction: Cardboard UFO Costume

About: Makedo is a series of safe cardboard construction tools purposely designed for kids to imagine and build the world they want to see.

If aliens exist, then we are aliens to them. Embark on an inter-planetary adventure in an earth-made flying saucer.

All you need is some cardboard, an umbrella and Makedo (of course) to make this Upcycled Fantastic Object (UFO).

Follow these simple steps to make your own unique costume for Halloween, a dress-up party or interstellar at-home fun.

Supplies

Step 1: Measure Out 8 Panels

Following the template, mark up the cardboard and cut out eight (8) panels.

Fold along the dotted lines and cut the rest.

Step 2: Attach the Panels Together

Fold the edge of each panel over the neighbouring piece and secure with three (3) Makedo Scrus.

Repeat until you have created a closed octagonal shape.

Note: If you are using a different sized umbrella, you may need to make some adjustments to the size of the octagonal opening. For best fit, it should be slightly smaller than the widest part of the open umbrella.

Step 3: Assemble the UFO

Insert the open umbrella up through the octagonal opening. The edge of the umbrella should be larger than the opening and will be held in place by the cardboard panels.

For extra hold, you can use small straps of cardboard and a couple of Makedo Scrus to sandwich some of the umbrella tips against the inside edge of the octagonal opening.

Step 4: Make It Your Own

Feel free to embellish this design with LED lights, tinsel, space decorations and more.
