Introduction: Chocolate Drizzled Orange Truffles

About: I enjoy crafting, photography, gardening and cooking. I am an avid cooking contester and I have won several national contests.

Of all of the colors of the rainbow, I think orange is probably the least used color of all. I decided I wanted to feature the color orange in my Instructable and give this color a little love! I enjoy eating oranges and I also enjoy creamsicle ice cream bars in the summer. At Christmas they sell those chocolate covered orange candies that you eat like the fruit. I was inspired to make this Instructable by that candy. My truffles are very creamy with the flavor of orange in every bite. And I wanted them to have a semi-sweet chocolate drizzle on top. They turned out quite tasty and very pretty! I hope you decide to give this recipe a try. Here is how you can make them, step by step.

Step 1: Ingredients

1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup orange gelatin powder

1 drop red food coloring

2 drops yellow food coloring

2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 tablespoon coconut oil

Step 2: Supplies Needed

2 microwaveable bowls

2 spoons

1 small cookie scoop

bowl cover or plastic wrap

Step 3: White Chocolate and Cream

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine white chocolate chips and heavy cream.

Step 4: Microwave It

Place in the microwave oven. Microwave at 50% power for 30 seconds.

Step 5: Stir

Stir the white chocolate and cream. Continue microwaving at 30 second intervals until mixture is blended and smooth.

Step 6: Add Gelatin

Stir in the orange gelatin and blend well.

Step 7: Add Food Color

Add 1 drop of red and 2 drops of yellow food coloring. These will make the truffles bright orange.

Step 8: Time to Refrigerate

Cover the bowl with the bowl cover or plastic wrap. Refrigerate the orange mixture for at least 2 hours until firm.

Step 9: Time to Scoop

The orange mixture is firm enough to scoop. Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, shape mixture into bite-size balls. Roll with moistened hands. You will make about 30 orange truffle balls.

Step 10: Roll in Sugar

Roll each ball in confectioners' sugar. Place on a plate or work surface.

Step 11: The Semi Sweet Chips

Place semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwaveable bowl.

Step 12: Melt It

Microwave at 50% power for 30 seconds. Add and stir in the coconut oil. Continue microwaving at 50% power at 30 second intervals until the chocolate mixture is smooth.

Step 13: Now Drizzle!

Using a spoon, drizzle the melted chocolate over the orange truffles.

Step 14: Refrigerate!

Refrigerate the truffles until the chocolate hardens.

Step 15: Ready to Eat!

The truffles are now ready for you to pop into your mouth and enjoy! The orange center is really creamy and it is complimented so well with the semi sweet chocolate topping. Make sure you refrigerate any leftovers. I hope you liked seeing how to make this truffle candy recipe featuring the color and flavor of orange! They are very pretty and so very tasty!!!
