Introduction: Clementyne Steamer - a Hot Orange Drink

I came up with the Clementyne Steamer between espresso coffees.  You see, I have a fantastic new toy that makes exquisite coffee, but I am faced with the sad fact that I can only drink so many of those coffees each day.  So I bide my time between these heavenly moments and try to think of other ways to play with the machine.

It's fun to make!

Having recently moved near the Tyne river in England, I decided to name the drink after the steam ships that used to operate in the area in the early 20th century.  You'll see why in a moment.

Ingredients:
  • 1 clementine
  • water
  • optional sweetener

Equipment:
  • 1 steam wand
  • 1 small single cup french press, or Aeropress.

Skewer a clementine at least 30 times in order to make escape routes for steam

Step 1: Steam the Clementine

Stick the steam wand halfway into it, put it in a glass or cup, and steam it.

This WILL spray hot water droplets all over the place.  Steam it until the pressure runs out (i.e. cook it).

Step 2: Crush and Steep the Clementine

Crush the clementine thoroughly, and transfer it to the press and add hot or cold water.  Optionally steep it for another 4 minutes.

Step 3: Press, Sweeten, Serve

Press and serve.  Sweeten to taste.
