Introduction: Cork Souvenir

This instructable shows how to build a souvenir for your refrigerator using a cork and a small magnet.

Step 1: Materials and Tools:

You will need the following materials:

  • A Cork. A real souvenir might come from a bottle of wine you opened during your vacancy trip.
  • A small magnet. Don't take it from the bulletin board from your working place, after all work and vacancy do not mix very well
  • Contact cement (or super glue, gorilla glue, etc).

And the following tools:

  • Sharp knife
  • Dremel
  • swab (for the glue)

Step 2: Split the Cork

Using the knife, split the cork in half. Be careful and don't cut your fingers on the process.

Step 3: Making a Hole for the Magnet

Using the dremel with a router tool, open some space for the magnet. From time to time check if the magnet fits well in the hole.

Step 4: Glueing the Magnet

Using a swab, apply contact cement in the cork and in the magnet and wait some time for both to dry.

After the contact cement is dry, press the magnet into the cork. Alternatively it is possible to use super glue.

Step 5: Enjoy Your New Refrigerator Magnet.

Put your new souvenir on the refrigerator and enjoy your creation.
