I first made this for my newborn. She loved it and so did my big kids. Easy and Soo cute!

You'll need to know how to:
1 chain CH
2 single crochet SC
3 single crochet 2 together or SC 2 together
4 double crochet or DC

Step 1: Materials

1. Choose you favorite color yarn for your new friend.
2. Crochet hook size H or larger if you want him bigger.
3. Scissors.
4. Safety eyes. Any size.
5. Small amount of stuffing.
6. Large eye blunt yarn needle.
7. Scrap of black yarn for mouth (optional)

Step 2: Getting Started! Body.

Ch 2 . 3 SC in second CH from hook
( work in rounds )
Round 1 - SC 2 in each SC around 6 SC

Round 2- SC 2 in each SC around 12 SC

Round 3- *SC 2 in next SC, SC in next* repeat from * 5 more times. 18 SC

Round 4- *SC 2 in next SC, SC in next 2 SCs* repeat from * 5 more times 24 SC

Round 5- *SC 2 in next SC, SC in next 3 SC * repeat from * 5 more times 30 SC

Round 6- * SC 2 in next SC, SC in next 4 SC * repeat from * 5 more times 36 SC

Round 7-12 SC around 36 SC

Round 13- *SC 2 together, SC in the next 4 SC * repeat from * 5 more times 30 SC

Round 14- SC around 30 SC

Round 15 * SC 2 together, SC in next 3 SC * repeat from * 5 more times 24 SC

Round 16- SC around 24 SC

Round 17- *SC 2 together, SC in next 2 SC * repeat from * 5 more times 18 SC

Fasten off leaving a long tail for stitching to the legs.

Step 3: Details

Now we get to ad some character . Place eyes between round 11 and 12 as close or far apart as you like them.

Optional mouth..... With yarn needle and black yarn. Do not knot yarn. Insert needle from inside head about row 13 between eyes. Make a lose straight stitch across 3 stitches leaving a 3 inch tail inside. Insert needle from inside again but in round 15 bellow the straight stitch. And up under the straight stitch and back in the same stitch you just came through. Pull snug and tie the 2 ends together.

Step 4: Stuff Your New Friend :)

Add stuffing until Body is firm but not over stuffed. It should not show through.

Step 5: Base for Legs

CH 2 SC 3 in second CH from hook.

Round 1- 2 SC in each SC around 6 SC

Round 2- 2 SC in each SC around 12 SC

Round 3- *2 SC in next SC, SC in next SC* repeat from * 5 more times 18 SC

Round 4- * 2 SC in next SC, SC in next SC * repeat from * 5 more times. 24 SC

Round 5- SC in each SC around 24 SC

DO NOT FASTEN OFF KEEP ON HOOK FOR NEXT STEP :D

Step 6: Legs

Now the fun part! :)

First leg - With base still in hand SC 3 CH 20, 2 DC in 4 the CH from hook. 3 DC in each of the remaining 16 CHs. Leg will curl on its own . Then move back to the base.

Legs 2 trough 8 : SC in next 3 SC, CH 20 , 2 DC in 4th CH from hook. 3 DC in each CH for next 16 CH.

Continue in this way for all remaining legs. SC 3 at end and fasten off weave in ends.

Step 7: Finishing

Using the tail you left on the body , stitch leg base to body. Enjoy your new friend, or give him a home with your favorite person. Will also double as a spider in black! :D
