Introduction: DIY Ker Plunk!

The object of the game is to skillfully remove the sticks from the wire while dropping the fewest balls possible.

Step 1: Gather All Materials

The first thing you are going to want to do is retrieve all the materials and tools that are needed to complete this project.

Materials

  • Table/stool
  • Chicken wire
  • Wooden rods
  • Plastic Balls
  • Duck-tape

Tools

  • Drill
  • Marker/Pencil
  • Jigsaw
  • File
  • Dremel
  • Wire cutters/strong scissors

Step 2: Draw a Circle in the Middle of the Table

With your marker or pencil, you are going to want to trace the dimensions of a circle onto the surface of the table. The circle size will change depending on the size of the table you use. Make sure that it is clear enough to see so you don’t mess up the cutting.

Step 3: Put 1 (or More) Hole(s) Within the Circle You Drew on the Table

Now, what you are going to want to do is put a hole within the area you will be cutting out so you can start the actual cut inside the circle you drew. You can use anything that will make a hole but I prefer to use a drill because it gets the job done quick.

Step 4: Cut the Circle Area Out of the Table

Now you get to the fun part. Grab your jigsaw as well as some safety glasses and getting sawing. Use the holes you made to start the cutting and carefully follow the lines you drew. If your table is really thick, or you don’t have a long blade for your saw, you may have to flip the table over and do the same thing on the bottom (what I end up doing).

Step 5: Clean Up the Area You Cut

After you’re all done cutting, grab your file and your Dremel, and start smoothing down the edges or evening some areas out that you may have messed up.

Step 6: Attach the Wire Around the Top of the Table

Now, grab your chicken wire and bring in along the edge of your circle and once you reach where you started, use your wire cutters and fold the tiny ends of the wire together to make a cylinder. It may or may not stay depending on how wide you made the base but it doesn't matter because of what you will do in the next step.

Step 7: Use Duck-tape to Secure the Wire to the Table

Now, what you are going to do is get out your handy dandy duck tape and use as much of it as you need to cover up the layer in between the top and bottom of the table as well as keep the wire stable.

Step 8: Insert the Wooden Rods Into the Wire and Fill It With the Plastic Balls

You are essentially done at this point. All you have to do now is put the sticks wherever you want towards the bottom of the wire and then just dump all your plastic balls on top. Their should be enough sticks going across ensuring no balls will fall through the hole in the table. This step will be repeated every time after you finish playing the game.

Step 9: Enjoy!

Just set it up, start playing and watch out for balls that go Ker Plunk! The players must use steady hands and a cool head to remove the sticks from below the balls. You and your friends will have a blast playing this amazing game! Just don’t let the balls fall! For 2 to 4 players.
