Introduction: DIY Tea Table From Waste Packing Box

About: I love DIY and electronics forever

Hello guys! I have made a super easy to make DIY futuristic teapoy from waste materials lying around. It looks beautiful in the house, so i thought of sharing it with all of you. I shall teach you how to make one in simple steps.

Step 1: Materials and Tools:

Waste cardboard packing box(I used one from a TV box)

A glass or any other material for the top of the table

Rubber adhesive

Scissors

Cutter

A waste calendar or any chart paper

A marker

Step 2: Preparing the Cardboard

Cut 4 equal rectangles from the packing box, each of dimensions 30*50 cm. Draw a straight line along one of its diagonals and fold the cardboard along the line as shown in the image. Repeat this step for all 4 cardboard rectangles.

Step 3: Forming the Base Structure

Keep the cardboard pieces next to each other in a line, make sure the folded diagonals are parallel for all 4 cardboard rectangles. Now, join all four cardboard rectangles along the long sides with each other using rubber adhesive and a long strip of paper as shown in the image. After you get a long rectangle, close the structure and join the last side too so it becomes a closed rectangular structure.

Let it dry for a while.

Step 4: Making the Top:

Cut a square or circular shape out of anything you like for the top. It may be acrylic or clear glass. I've used some waste sheet lying around. Make sure the size of the circle/square is approximately greater than or equal to the size of the top of the rectangular structure you made earlier.

Step 5: Giving the Top a Touch Up

If you feel the bare top doesn't look good, you may cut out some shapes from an old calendar or chart paper and stick it to the top. This is an optional step.

Step 6: Shaping the Base:

Here comes the tricky part. Keep the rectangular cardboard base you made earlier vertically. Ask someone to hold the bottom. now, catch any two parallel sides of the top and twist it in a clockwise direction. The diagonals should go inwards and the shape should become like the one in the image. This takes some practice. Even I had failed to do it a lot of times in the beginning. You may make a small model of the base and try it out first and then do this one. I've done the same.

Step 7: Assembly Time:

When shaping the base is done, just place the top to the base. You may stick it to the base with rubber adhesive.

And there you go! You have made your very own futuristic teapoy.

Have fun! Do post your diy teapoy if you make one.

If I've made any mistakes while writing any step, please let me know. Thanks guys.
