A bolster can enhance your yoga practice. I started using one while pregnant. But they can be used at any time.

Step 1: Materials

  • Cotton Fabric
  • Stuffing - Cotton batting or unused blankets
  • Thread - Color to match fabric
  • Sewing Needle to match fabric type
  • Sewing Machine to make project go faster

Step 2: Cut the Fabric You Need.

Determine what size you want your bolster. I decided on a 30” x 8”. But you could do a smaller size.

Cut 1 piece of your fabric in 31” by 26”.

Cut 2 pieces of fabric in 9” circles. These will be the ends.

Step 3: Pinning the Long Seam

Pin the 30” sides of the fabric together with right sides facing each other.

Sew this straight seam.

Step 4:

Pin one circle onto the end of the 30” cylinder. Right side is facing in, wrong side out. Sew this seam.

Pin the second circle onto the other end, but only sew half way around, leave the other side open to fill with your stuffing.

Turn right side out, so that the seams are all inside.

Step 5: Stuff the Bolster

Roll your stuffing into a log to match the size of your bolster.

Stuff this into the case we just made.

Fold over the seam and sew to close the bolster.

Step 6: Finished!

Now your bolster is ready to be used in your next practice!
