Introduction: Deadpool 3D Frame

Hello,

This project came about quite spontaneously. While digging through my "you can still use that" box, I found this little Deadpool figure and thought it would look good in the hobby room. But since this figure is very small, it had to be put in scene, of course. Since I always have some 3D picture frames from IKEA on reserve, it was just a matter of making it.

The only question that remains is, is this now art or just nerd level 9000 :)

Step 1: Cad Design

As always, I first draw everything in 3D and 2D before I start building everything.

I use free and open source software for this.

  • Google Sketchup8 for 3D
  • Qcad for 2D
  • Inkscape and Gimp for the graphics

Step 2: List of Materials

  • 1 Ikea 3d frame SANNAHED 25cm x 25cm
  • 1 sheet of 3mm MDF
  • a few toothpicks
  • a sitting DeadPool figure https://amzn.to/40q0927
  • acrylic colors
  • white spay paint

Step 3: Prepare the Frame

First take the frame apart and remove the Plexiglas pane, as this is not needed.

You can paint the back part white and engrave the brick pattern on it, as I did, or simply print a brick wall of at least 13cm 13cm and glue it on.

The inner box consists of four 3mm MDF pieces that are painted white, fitted together and simply inserted into the frame. The box has exactly the size of the original passpartout of the SANNAHED frame.

Step 4: The Add Ons

I have created this small scene, which you can also make according to your own ideas. I am also working on a few other items, such as a small pink sports bag or a poster, to enhance the whole thing.

First the manhole cover. I engraved and cut it out with the laser cutter. It consists of two 3mm MDF parts. The outer ring and the lid itself. It was painted with brown and red acrylic paint. Then drybushed with silver. I put some black acrylic paint in water and painted over the object. Dab it off and we have a cool weatherring effect.

I glued the outer ring to the ceiling and put the lid in the corner. I know the lid opens upwards, but this is called "artistic freedom".

The ladder is made of 3mm MDF and toothpicks that were shortened to 30mm and simply glued into the openings of the side parts. The rest of the process was the same as for the manhole cover.

Step 5: Finish Line and Showcase

Reattach the back of the frame. Then place or glue the objects inside and put the Deadpool figure in its place. Et voila, ready to hang up where your wife or husband will let you :)

I hope you like the idea and have fun making it. The advantage of this idea is, that you don't have to do it exactly the same way, but can incorporate your own ideas.

Update 01: I have added a Hello Kitty poster
