This Instructable will show how to make Duct Tape into a Tool to help clean up around the workshop and the house.

Duct tape has become quite the versatile material over the years.

According to Wikipedia...

"The first material called "duck tape" was long strips of plain cotton duck cloth used in making shoes stronger, for decoration on clothing, and for wrapping steel cables or electrical conductors to protect them from corrosion or wear. For instance, in 1902, steel cables supporting the Manhattan Bridge were first covered in linseed oil then wrapped in duck tape before being laid in place." Who knew?

This Instructable will show how to easily use it as a cleaner-upper.

Next time you find a small mess and don't feel like dragging out the vacuum cleaner or dust broom... Grab your roll of Duct Tape and make a Duct Tape Dusting Tool!

Step 1: Materials

Obviously we need a roll of your favorite Duct Tape. Any color will do. I stick with the old school silver/gray color for my work as all the other designer colors usually have an additional cost for its fancy quality.

If you don't have the strength to tear the tap with your hands then grab a pair of scissors.

Step 2: Make the Tool

Pretty simple to make the tool.

1. Pull a strip of tape 6-8 inches from the roll. Length will depend on the size of hand doing the cleaning.
2. Cut the strip from the roll.
3. Make a loop with the tap with the sticky side facing outward.
4. Put your fingers through the loop.

You are now ready to start cleaning up crud with your Duct Tape Duster!

Step 3: Clean Upholstery

If you have any type of hairy pet this is the perfect tool to clean up pet hair.

Just wipe the tape tool across the upholstery. Much easier than hauling out that vacuum cleaner.

Step 4: Cushion Crud

This tool works great on that crud that falls between the seat cushions of the couch. Again, leave the vacuum in the closet. You will be able to get your job faster and easier with the Duct Tape Duster!

Step 5: Dog Kennel Duster

How about all the dog hair around the dog kennel or other main spot your dog or cat liked to lay?

Step 6: Fireplace Hearth

Use your Duct Tape Duster to clean up any ash or creosote from the fireplace hearth!

Step 7: Wood Step Clean Up

Have a heavy traffic area? Duct Tape Duster works great on wood steps. Just look at the strength of that adhesion! It holds wood chips too.

Step 8: In the Kitchen

No use crying over spilled SALT! Pick it up with the Duct Tape Duster!

Step 9: Bench Top Cleaner

Truly the first time I used this tool was on my bench top where I build some of my Instructables with electrical components. When working with small wire, in no time at all there are strands of wire and strippings everywhere on the bench top and on the floor. Sometimes you just want it cleaned up NOW rather than getting out the dust broom or vacuum.

The Duct Tape Duster is the perfect quick and easy solution!
