Introduction: Dumping a Clingy Friend

About: Dream big. Make art, not war.

Hey everybody! NOTE: When I say friend, I don't mean boyfriend girlfriend or partner. I mean a friend. Recently, I've been having problems with a really clingy friend at school. They always seem to follow me around, question me whenever I hang out with other friends, won't talk to other friends, and always touches me and constantly has her arm around me. And it's REALLY ANNOYING. It just seems like I can't hang with any of my other friends an I can't have any personal space. So if any of you out there are having this problem (which is probably why you are reading this) Im here to help !

Step 1: DISTANCE YOURSELF

Try to hang out with other friends more and try to give these friends a little more attention than you give your clingy friend. This is to let him/her know that you like to hang out with some others.

Step 2: INTRODUCE THEM

Your clingy friend (being clingy) is unlikely to have many others to hang with. Introduce her to new people and they may become more relaxed. For him/her to meet other people is key. You might be able to reduce the problem or maybe even pass it on altogether!

Step 3: TELL THE TRUTH (NICELY!)

You should let them know that you want some space sometimes. However, this doesn't mean be rude. To "Dump" doesn't mean you can't be friends anymore. Tell them that you like them, and that their company is enjoyable. But then tell them that you also have other friendship commitments. Be nice! Just tell them in a subtle and calm manner. Well that's it! Thx for reading and good luck !
