Introduction: Easy Homemade Milkshakes

About: I have a YouTube, and I do the science.

This is going to be a quick guide outlining how I make milkshakes for myself, friends, and family.
The recipes are easily customized and I encourage you to try your own twist.

I encourage you to try adding your own unique flavors, the base is flexible enough that you could get extremely creative and still have an awesome treat.

If you want to see the video and see step by step how I did this, check out my Youtube channel. A link is on my profile.

Step 1: Ingredients

Vanilla Ice Cream is a must. If you want to stay vanilla, try adding some artificial extract to boost the flavor, as it'll dilute down.

Whole Milk is what I use, it seems to be a bit more cooperative for blending than 2%.

I used oreo cookies, peanut butter protein powder, Hershey's chocolate(see step 3 for tips with 70%), and a few other flavor agents but feel free to do as your taste buds desire.

Step 2:

The best rule of thumb is to have an equal volume of ice cream and milk, but by increasing the amount of either, you will change the consistency of your shake. Having a thicker shake will keep everything in suspension easier, but it will be more difficult to blend, where as having it thinner will make it much easier to blend, but everything will want to sink to the bottom.

I kept mine a little heavier on the ice cream, and put my flavors in last so they would be closer to the blades, thus my tilting the blender side-to-side.

Step 3: A Note for Chocolate

If you decided to do chocolate milkshakes, you may notice that they're bit gritty. This is because without an extremely long blending process, you will not get the chocolate ground fine enough to be fully incorporated into the shake. A way to circumvent this would be to pour your milk into a saucepan and bring it to a gentle simmer, and slowly drop in one square of chocolate at a time. This will melt the chocolate into the milk evenly and eliminate the grit, just make sure to cool it before adding it in with the ice cream(unless you use chocolate milk and syrup).
