Introduction: Easy Indian Tomato Sabji

Hello! This is my first Instructable! It is a recipe for a delicious Indian tomato sabji that can be used as a snack or side dish for several people or as a meal for one person. It's also extremely easy to make!

Step 1: Ingredients

You will need:

1 can of diced tomatoes
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (more or less depending on how hot you want it)
1/4 tsp chili powder
1 tbsp dried or fresh cilantro
Naan

Step 2: Cook Tomatoes in Pan

It is time to begin. Just add the tomatoes into the pan on medium heat and let them warm up a bit.

Step 3: Add Spices

Now that the tomatoes are in the pan, you can add all of the spices into the pan, as well. Make sure to put them in before too much water evaporates or else it will be harder to spread them evenly among the tomatoes. Feel free to add more or less of each spice to suit your tastes. This is especially important for the cayenne pepper. I really enjoy spicy food and I used 1 tsp of cayenne pepper and the end result had a decent kick to it. I would suggest not adding more than 1/2 tsp unless you really like spicy food.

Step 4: Prepare Naan

Start warming up the naan if it's pre-cooked or cooking it if you want to make it fresh. There are several recipes for naan here on Instructables if you don't know how to make it and want to learn. You can also buy it pre-made from the grocery store. As an alternative to naan, I can vouch for garlic Texas toast. It goes very well with this sabji. I'm sure that other breads and flat breads would work well, too.

Step 5: Keep Cooking

Cook the tomatoes down until the extra water has evaporated.

Step 6: Plate It Up!

Enjoy!
