Introduction: Easy Doughnuts With Rose Petal Jam (traditional Polish "doughnuts")

Well, they are not really doughnuts. According to me they are much better. And they dont have a hole in the middle :-). Instead they have a filling. Usually it is a rose petal jam or strawberry jam but the traditional ones are with rose jam.

You will need:
1 cup ofmilk
60g of butter
1/2 cup of sugar
about 10 g of dry yeast
2 eggs
3 and 1/2 cup flour
candied rose petals

Boil together milk and butter until they melt. Then add sugar, yeast and eggs. Mix, then gradually add flour and mizx the dough with your hands until it's elastic. Leave it in a warm place to double its size.

Then flatten it so it'e about half an inch thick , then cut into circles.Divide the circles into 2 equal groups. On one part put about a teaspoon of rose petals jam. Now put another circle on top and stick their edges together. Place the "donuts" on lightly floured cloth, cover them with another well floured cloth and allow it to grow for about 30 mins. Then heat the oil to a temperature of  about 190*C and fry the doughnuts on each side for about 2,5 min. Fried donuts place on a paper towel to get rid of some of the oil.

Now sprinkle them with sugar powder or put some icing on top. If you choose the icing version, it's a great idea to put some candied orange skin on top!
You're done! Tell me what do you think of the one of the most popular Polish sweet snacks!

And if you are curious what they are called in Polish, I can tell you: Pączki (Pronounces: P-oh-ch-k-i)
