Introduction: Eat the Best Pancake Ever

Your success in fulfilling this instructable depends on a number of things; eg: the kinds of pancakes you've eaten previously; your particular tastes; the state of your taste buds and mental health at the time of consumption. Nonetheless, this is mos def worth attempting!

Yesterday I ate the best pancake ever. snap.

The patchwork image, also in pdf form, was created by Clay a while back and gives the real recipe: general principles to guide experimentation. I said you'd eat the Best pancake, though, so here's what I did.

Step 1: Ingredients

1 cup whole wheat flower
1/2 cup buckwheat flour
1/2 cup rice flour
1/3 cup chickpean flour
0 cup garbanzo bean flour
1/2 cup white flour
might have tasted even better with some corn meal.

2 eggs (< 1 egg per cup flour)

1ish teaspoons baking powder
1ish teaspoon baking soda (less baking soda than baking powder. more to make fluffy, less if tastes chalky)

enough soy milk to make concoction drippy ish. try to put in all at once to reduce stirring, otherwise pancakes will taste like bread (the fibers will get mixed together like spaghetti). i didn't do this, so the pancakes tasted a little like bread. yum.

1 orange cut up and put in batter. banana works great, too, but bear ate it.

some amount of ice cream topping. CLove ice cream is for Clay loves ice cream (but not as much as peanut butter, or ice cream with soy milk and peanut butter)

maple syrup is nice, too.

Step 2: Make

First, and this might be the most important step, do something fun. For me, it was water polo practice followed by running in the rain, but it could be anything. Drinking love potion is like drinking love potion.

Mix up the dry ingredients. Add the wet. Stir gently.

Turn up the heat on a pan. Add some olive oil.

Lower the heat once the pan heats up and pour in some batter. Shake the pan to spread out the pancake evenly.

Let it sit on low heat. Bubbles will pop around the edges and middle. A minute or two? maybe five?

Turn up the heat maybe.

Flip! Add more oil if you want. Let sit.

Put on plate, add some ice cream, and eat!
