Introduction: Geometric Faceted Clay Tea Light Holders.

About: Hi, I'm Emma and I love making things. I blog at www.gatheringbeauty.com where I share all the things I'm making and baking and anything else I love and can't get enough of.

I'm a big fan of this air hardening clay. Last week I used it to make stamped clay magnets and this week I thought I'd use it to make some clay tealight holders. I love all the faceted gemstones and geometric shapes that have been popping up all over the internet and I've been dying to have a go at making something incorporating them myself.

Step 1: Things You Will Need to Make Your Own Faceted Clay Tea Light Holders.

Things you will need:

Air hardening clay
Tealights
A knife
Sandpaper or a nail file

Step 2:

Start by rolling your air hardening clay into a ball. Take a tealight and press it firmly into your ball of clay. Don't worry about any cracks in the clay just yet, you can fix these later. Make sure to give the tealight a wiggle. You want to leave enough space that you can remove and replace the tealight as needed.

Step 3:

To begin making your faceted tealight holder slice into the base of the clay at an angle. Be careful not to cut too close to your tealight. Continue to cut around the base until you are happy with the shape.

Step 4:

Flip your clay over and this time cut in at an angle from about halfway down towards the counter top. Carry on until you form your geometric shape.

Step 5:

This is the part where you can fix any cracks or splits in the clay. Use a little water and either your fingertips or the flat side of a knife and smooth out any imperfections.

Step 6:

Leave to dry overnight or until hard. Mine took nearly 48 hours as the clay was quite thick in places. When completely dry use sandpaper or a nail file to smooth down any rough or rounded edges and you're all done.

Step 7:

The end product. Light and enjoy.
