Introduction: Gingerbread Star Wars AT-AT Walker

I was inspired by some gingerbread AT-AT walkers I saw online and decided to try my hand at creating one. Although you can create your own gingerbread pieces, I did it the easy way and bought these pre-made ones from IKEA. I used about 3-4 packs of these, which was plenty. The great thing is that these pieces are large enough so you can cut them into the shapes you want.

For the icing, I used about 4 cups powdered sugar and a 1/4 cup of milk. You can add more/less powdered sugar depending on how thick you want the icing to be.

Other optional ingredients:
-Mini M&Ms (Christmas colors)
-2 rolls of Life Savers (mixed colors)
-Black licorice

Step 1: AT-AT Body

First I built the body by slicing pieces of the pre-made gingerbread cookie. I put 3 pieces together to construct the sides and then decorated those with mini M&Ms. Once dry, I put them on a base and added a "roof".

Step 2: AT-AT Head

Use the same technique as step 1 to create the head. For the front of the AT-AT head, I made a "wreath" using a green Life Saver and some red mini M&Ms. For the guns, I used some trimmed down black licorice.

I attached the head piece to the body with a roll of Life Savers.

Step 3: AT-AT Legs

Since this was more of a "fun" project and I didn't want to spend more than 2 hours on it, I decided not to make the AT-AT stand up. If you do want to make it stand, you will definitely need to reinforce the body with a wooden support or maybe something behind the legs to hold up the body.

To create the legs, I stuck two skinny gingerbread pieces together with a life saver on the top and the middle as it's "joint". For the feet, I stacked 3 round gingerbread pieces together. You can add two short black licorice pieces on the side of the feet as well.

For some extra flare, you can even use more black licorice as a tow cable!

And that's it! May the force be with you!
