Introduction: Romantic Star Globe - Easy & Inexpensive!

I was looking to brighten up a dark corner of the counter, and when I came upon an extra glass light globe that had been sitting on a garage shelf, I found the perfect solution! With nothing more than that globe, an inexpensive string of battery-operated twinkle lights, and an old candle holder, I was able to create a lovely focal point!

Step 1: Basic "ingredients"

A glass globe, a set of twinkle lights, and a "base" of your choice.

Step 2: Reuse....Recycle!

Look around your house for items that can be re-used or recycled for this project. You'll be surprised at how many bowls, planter pots, jars, etc. you will find that work beautifully for this project! Here are photos of just some that I came up with that were in my kitchen cupboard!

Other sources of inspiration include plant stands and candle holders.

Alternately, thrift shops such as The Salvation Army, Goodwill, or Habitat for Humanity Store frequently have inexpensive options, and as a bonus, we are preventing these items from adding to our landfills!

Step 3: A Globe for Every Room!

Once I made the first globe, I couldn't stop there! I added one to my bathroom, and created yet another one that sits on my nightstand and creates a lovely romantic glow by the bedside.

I think it would be fun to place a miniature figure, or ornament in the center of the globe, as an additional visual focal point.

I hope I've inspired you to try this easy project! Please share any photos of projects that you make, using this Instructable. It would be a joy, knowing I have provided inspiration to others!!

Happy holidays!
