Glowing Pickle

Light bulbs are overrated. Sure, they produce decent amounts of light, but come on, why use your fancy LEDs, when you could use Picklebulbs?
Being very easy to construct, these sources of light provide a unique environment, and are a much greener way of doing things compared to the normal way of lighting.

I encourage you, stop wasting your money on fancy light bulbs, and invest in your pickle bulbs, because maybe, just maybe, one day pickles will be the primary light source.

Supplies

Wood board

2 long nails

5 short screws

A three pronged electrical plug (with wires)

Surge protector

Zipties (optional)

And Pickles!

Step 1: Materials and Tools

For this project, you will need the following materials:

1. Wooden plank/board (I used a 1x3)

2. Screws and Nails (3 long nails, 5 short screws)

3. Section of 3 pronged extension cord (I just took the cord from a broken surge protector)

4. Zipties (optional)

5. Pickles

You will also need the following Tools:

1. A hammer

2. A drill (screw drivers work too, but takes longer)

3. sandpaper

Step 2: Screws and Nails

To start off, sand the two nails to remove any galvanization.

First, Hammer the two nails into the board, about 1.5-2 inches apart. Try to not crack the wood like I did.

Then, put 1 screw into the side of the board, roughly in-between the two nails.

Remember to sand beneath the head of the screw, to remove any galvanization.

Then, put 1 screw in each corner, in the opposite end of the board.

This is so that once everything is complete, the board will not be resting on the ground.

Step 3: Connecting the Wires

Connect the wires as shown. you may need to pull the nails out a small amount, as well as for the screw on the side.

Then, using wire strippers or a knife, strip the wires, and wrap them around their corresponding places.

the green wire goes on the side screw, and the other two go on the nails.

Then, hammer the nails back into place, and screw the screw back.

Step 4: Final Touches

at this point, your nearly ready to go, but just a few more details.

First, Ziptie the cord to the side, as shown, so that it doesn't knock the apparatus over.

Second, plug the apparatus into the surge protector. this is so that you will have a quick way to turn it on and off, and safety, in case your wiring is touching or anything like that.

Lastly, apply the pickle.

you may also want to add a support system for the pickle, otherwise, it will slide down the nail and become less asthetic.

Step 5:

You're done!
Your new, stylish light is ready to run!

Plug it in and give it a try. oh, and keep in mind that the smoke is ineavitable, and if you use this in your house, then your house will smell like burning pickles. So its probably better to not use this inside. It might also be easier and cheaper to use normal light bulbs in normal ways. but too late for that!

If your pickle is having trouble producing light, then it might be time to get a new pickle.
