Introduction: Heart Shaped Tie Dye

hippie baby onsie

Step 1: Prepare the Onsie/s

lightly dampen the material, then wring it out completely. draw a heart or any shape desired with a marker ( or a washable pen if you don't want to see the lines)

Step 2: Banding

start bunching the material along the line, so that the line is visible. its a little tricky, but the tighter you are to it, the better the design will be. now that its bunched, wrap a rubber band around it. again, make it tight for better results. the line should be even with the band. now you can add the other rubber bands in equal distances the whole length of the project, bunching them together tightly as you go.

Step 3: Dye Your Heart Out

start with a red or pink on the top(center), then use a light color next so it doesn't bleed together. I like yellow best. then do a rainbow of colors, or pick a couple you like best. after thoroughly soaking it with dye put it in a plastic bag and let it sit overnight

Step 4: Rinse and Admire!

undo all the rubber bands, and rinse under Cold water thoroughly, then I like to use the rinse cycle in the washing machine, before throwing it in with other dyed projects and a couple dark towels. dry on a low heat setting. ta-da! now admire an adorable baby in your fresh new onsie
