Introduction: Homemade Sleep Spray

About: I’m a mama of three and breast milk donor just trying to survive the chaos with coffee, fitness and wine!

I just love anything lavender! I love its calming and relaxing effects, especially when it is time to wind down before bedtime. And the flora aroma? MMM! It is also extremely versatile and gentle. It is one of the essential oils I trust most using on my son. Keep in mind, I use only therapeutic grade essential oils, so I personally do not trust all "lavender" essential oils on my son (and even myself).

Here's a little "fun fact" - Many store-bought "lavender" essential oils actually contain lavandin (a hybrid of lavender, but biologically different) or chemicals (although not marked on the label because essential oils are not regulated by the FDA). Just think about store-bought produce...those containing pesticides are not marked as so. The same goes for store-bought essential oils. Lavandin smells like lavender, but it is not. Lavandin contains higher amounts of camphor which can burn or irritate the skin. These perfume/cosmetic/low grade oils are not what you want to use when it comes to using essential oils on your kids and family.

One way I love using lavender is in my homemade sleep spray. I like to spritz it on all of our pillows before bed.

What you need:

2 ounce spray bottle

1 teaspoon witch hazel

10 drops of lavender essential oil
