Introduction: How to Make Briquttes

About: Me, Dudley. I enjoy playing call of duty watching football and playing lacrosse. I also spend lots of my free time hunting: squirrels, birds, deer, chimpmunk, lizard, snake, beaver, and rabbit.

Briquttes are simple biomass logs (I don't know if I'm spelling it right) they are simply made of paper and/or leaves, they also will burn for 20-30 minutes. In this instructable you will learn how to make them and the press needed to create them properly.

Step 1: What You Need

You need a shredder, lots of newspaper, leaves (optional), a caulk gun, washers, 1 1/2 inch pvc, a bucket, and 3 1 1/2 inch washers.

Step 2: The Logs Themselves

You will need a lot of newspaper you also can mix in leaves if you feel like it. First you will need to shred a lot if paper (this is compressed.) Then after that you will need to find a large bucket. Once you have completed that you will need to put the shredding in the bucket and add enough water so that all the paper is submerged in the water. You will need to stir this about twice a day for the next 3-5 days.

Step 3: The Press

You need 1 1/2 an inch pvc pipe, a caulk gun, and some 11/2 inch washers. You should cut the pvc where it can fit into the caulk gun nice and snug but where you can take it out easily. Then put the caulk gun aside and cut 4-8 1 inch deep slits in the pvc.

Step 4: The Finished Briqutte

Put a washer in the bottom of the pvc and leave it there then stuff some of the loose paper into the log after you've stuffed a handful or 2 then put in another washer do the same and put the pvc with everything in it inside of the caulk gun. Now press the trigger until it wont go anymore. Now take out the pvc and get a spoon with a long handle stuff the handle part into the tube and after a minute the logs should come out. After drying these should serve as great survival logs. These also dont have to look pretty.
