Introduction: How to Install a Larger Battery in Your Car, Feat- Tata Safari | Right Pole Vs Left Pole Battery | Big Battery Upgrade

About: Necessity is the Mother of Inventions they say, I live in challenging land called INDIA. where the Sub par conditions like power issues, heat, Dust and environmental factors are just tough! and They have force…

Tata Safari Comes by defualt a left pole battery, which severely limits our Choices to get a nice big battery. The 65A Battery which I had installed was not enough and was failing Prematurely. In this DIY we shall install a Larger, Right Pole battery in Tata Safari.

The Same method can be applied to any car which comes with Left Pole battery, Provided the wire leads are long enough. The video also talks about differences between a Left pole and Right pole battery.

Supplies

1. Large Battery (80 Amp in my case)

2. Spanners, Tools, Screwdriver.

3. 30 Minutes of your time.

Step 1: Procedure

Installation Procedure-

Let's Undo The Battery, I will not bore you with details. So the Battery Bracket comes out first, Then the Negative and then the Positive, Lets Them these terminals somewhere... And out comes the battery.

And lets compare with the larger battery which we shall Install soon. You can already notice the difference in size. and The Configuration of terminals. Those extra 15 amps can magically give us twice the Battery life compared to the Undersized battery.

Now Lets Proceed to Install the battery. Cables out of the way. Neatly tucked in. And the question is, Will it Fit? Hmm Lets move these positives further out and try again.

Alright, I am definitely not missing the Gym today. This time its sitting on Coolant pipes and negative terminal.

Third time is the charm they say... I'll try slightly Tilting the battery and In it goes. Oh the Red wire is under the battery. lets get it out. And...

And there we go. Phew! Finally we got it in. Man That was a tight fit. Actually this Lip on the Left hand fender side hinders the install even more. Anyways. I am pretty Happy!

But Thats Half the battle, Lets see if Terminals fit. and lets Tighten them down. Then goes the battery holder. Done. Let me show you how it looks. Notice any Difference? The Terminals had to be Rotated, so now they sit sideways. The Positive Cable now exits towards the front of the vehicle. And the Negative. Well.. we barely got it fixed.

All connections secure. Now comes the exciting part. Inside the cabin!

Alright. Time for the Truth. Here's my key and lets try Starting the beast. We have the Dash Indicators, which is good. Engage the Parking Brake, Gear lever Into Neutral, I will also show you all the voltages by the way.

And the Beast roars to life! Anyone Likes the Grr Grr Grrrrf Sound which Safari Crank makes, Hit a Like and let me know in Comments below.

man we deserve some AC. Lets turn that on!

So the Alternator Immidiately picked up Battery to 13.8 to 14v. Which is Just perfect. No issues there. Infact this is the perfect battery size for Safari, which is 80 Amp.

Have a nice day and make your own roads!
