Introduction: How to Repair a Trug.

My neighbour was about to throw out her trug that she uses as a laundry basket.

I offered to put on a new handle, by repurposing some bits from my junk drawer.

She loves the result and the trug avoided going to landfill.

Supplies

TOOLS

A saw

A file

2 x 10mm spanners

A nail (and a way to heat the nail, such a kitchen stove, or a blowtorch)

A lighter

MATERIALS

2 x M6 bolts

2 x M6 nuts

4 x M6 washers

A strip of inner tube

An old handle bar grip

Step 1: Prepare the Trug

I cut off the remaining part of the handle, and filed it smooth.

I gently melted the remaining roughness away, using a lighter .

Step 2: Making Holes

I used a hot nail to melt two holes for a new handle, (A drill could be used instead).

Step 3: Putting on the Handle

I threaded a small length of inner tube through an old bicycle handlebar grip.

I melted a hole in each end, then fixed the handle in place with M6 bolts, nuts and washers.

Job done.

Keep on truggin' . . .
