Introduction: How to Use Resource Packs Minecraft Java Edition

Resource packs in Minecraft are very useful they can change textures of blocks and mobs and even change sounds that play during gameplay. This tutorial is for Java Minecraft players so this tutorial won't work for bedrock players. Note: If you don't see some of the files I have don't worry I've played a while and have gotten different mods that add a few files.

Step 1: Download the Resource Pack of Your Choosing

This works for any resource pack you can find so it doesn't matter where you download the file from. Make sure before downloading that the texture pack is for the version you are going to play on of you could encounter some problems.

REMEMBER: only download files from sites you trust. If you don't know where to get resource packs I recommend either curse forge or planetminecraft since they have a large collection of resource packs available for free. If you want to customize your own resource pack I recommend vanilla tweaks as they have an easy-to-use resource pack maker that allows you to change a lot of things about the game.

Step 2: Move the File to Somewhere You Can Remember

Drag the downloaded .zip file to the desktop or somewhere else you will be able to find it later.

Step 3: Open Minecraft

You should know how to start Minecraft so I won't explain that here. We will open Minecraft so we can move the resource pack into the correct folder and add it to Minecraft.

Step 4: Open the Resource Pack Menu

To get to the resource pack folder is:

1: Open the settings menu

2: Click on the "Resource Packs..." button

Step 5: Open the Resource Pack Folder and Drag the File In

Click the "Open Pack Folder" button on the bottom left. It should open a file menu and you can drag the resource pack into that. Once you're done, close the file menu and go back into Minecraft.

Step 6: Applying a Resource Pack

After finishing the previous step click the "Done" button and re-open the resource pack menu. Your pack should appear on the left side of the screen. Click the arrow on the resource pack and it will move to the right side. If you apply multiple resource packs the top one will take priority for textures. To change which pack is on top use the small up and down buttons to change the order. after you have the packs you want, press the "Done" button to apply the resource pack.

Step 7: Removing a Resource Pack

If you are tired of your resource pack go into the resource pack menu and press the left-facing arrow on the applied resource pack.
