this is a tutorial on how to make a simple non polarized High Voltage Capacitor. On use for this kind of cap is in a SGTC Tesla Coil cercuit.
you will need:
- 2 clear Overhead projector transparency
- scisors or exactoknife
- aluminum foil
- 2 wires
- some sort of clear tape
- time
optional:
- capacitance meter
- sharpy (to write the capacitance on the cap)
The cap shown in the video has a maximum rating of 20KV, this is due to one sheet of overhead transparancys being able to withstand 10KV. Also prevent sharp edges on the aluminum foil as this will cause corona build up that will ultimately cook the dielectric (overhead transparency), if this happens for an extended period of time it will brake down the dielectric causing a fault.
