Introduction: How to Make a Simple Lightweight Shelf in 15 Minutes Tops

About: I love making my own accessories and learning how to remake things, along with drawing and doing art. I tend to be a hoarder of things that can be generally useless a lot of the time; cardboard, bottles and bo…

Or, "How to keep your My Little Ponies from being swallowed by the entity that is now the mess in your room."

I originally got my first My Little Pony as a novelty, but five blind bags, three trips to McDonalds and a lucky raffle win later I was starting to lose track of my "herd". I needed a way to display them out of the way of my daily life, but the only shelves I had would often become victim to the tide of stuff that will often flood my room, something I wouldn't be tempted to pile anything on. I saw leftover foam core board from a previous project and figured, "why not?"

Step 1: Step One: Have an Idea in Mind, Then Get Cutting!

I knew what I needed for the shelf: it had to be big enough for my modest but slowly growing collection, simple enough to be repeated for if and when said collection outgrows the first shelf, and adaptable enough so that I could figure out how to add a hook for another upcoming instructable, a bar for the Micky D's ponies, and a place for the cards that come with the blind bag ponies. Unfortunately that's about as far as I go planning-wise for projects like this- spontaneous artist type, watcha gonna do?- so I started cutting and kind of ran with it and a hot-glue gun.

Step 2: Well This Will Be Short...

Time to hang the thing! I originally wanted to to thumbtacks for all the support, but they were too short; I settled for two nails and thumbtacks under the wobbly bits; it is cheap foam-core board after all.

Step 3: Done!

Now to enjoy your cheap easily-disposable furniture! Thanks for reading!
