Introduction: How to Wrap a Knife Handle With Paracord

In this instructable I'll show you how to wrap a knife or tool handle with para-cord. I think that a plain old circular wrap is boring so I'm going to use a cobra weave instead. I am going to wrap the para- cord around a machete handle instead of a regular fixed blade knife.

Step 1: Get Your Materials

Materials: Para-cord (about a foot of para-cord for every inch of the handle)
Any knife/tool with a handle ( we will only be wrapping the handle of the knife/tool)
                  Scissors
                  Lighter/ Matches

Step 2: Open Up Your Para-cord and Find the Middle

Open up the para-cord. Find the middle by holding the two ends in one hand and stretch the whole rope out. Then the opposite end of the two loose ends is the middle point of the para-cord.

Step 3: Make the First Knot

Put the middle of the para-cord under the end of the handle closer to the blade. Once that is done, take the right side of the rope and make a loop over the handle as in the 2nd picture.  Then take the left end and put it under the handle and bring it up into the loop. Pull it tight and then you have your first knot.

Step 4: Continue the Knots

Use the left side to make the loop and make the knot all over again. Continue the pattern and keep switching the side that makes the loop.

Another way to find the side which needs to be the one making the loop is to find the bump that is made on either side and that is the side that needs to be making the loop.

Step 5: Finishing Touches

If you have any slack left such as in the picture you should cut it using scissors. Then melt the ends using matches. Add any other things that you want to. For example I tied the ends in knots.

Step 6: The Finished Product

Now you have a good grip on your knife or tool so it won't slip out of your hand when you are using it.

The picture is what my finished project looked like.
