Introduction: Installing Drivers

To connect to Ember over USB or Wi-Fi you’ll need to install a network-over-USB driver.

Step 1: Windows

  1. Download the network driver for Windows (Which version of Windows do I have?)
    1. 64-bit driver
    2. 32-bit driver
  2. Double click on the downloaded driver (BONE_D64.exe or BONE_DRV.exe)
  3. Follow the prompts to finish the installation

After installation, there are a few more steps that you need to complete to configure the Windows driver


Note:

This procedure is for Windows 7, other versions of Windows may require a slightly different procedure.


  1. Open the Device Manager
  2. Right click the entry for "Ember 3D Printer" and select "Update Driver Software..."
  3. Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
  4. Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
  5. Highlight "Network adapters" and select "Next"
  6. ighlight "Linux Developer Community" under "Manufacturer" and "Linux USB Ethernet/RNDIS Gadget" under "Network Adapter" and select "Next"
  7. Select "Yes" when prompted with a warning
  8. Select "Close" when the driver is successfully updated

Step 2: Mac

  1. Download the HoRNDIS Network Driver
  2. Double click the HoRNDIS.pkg after downloading

    Note:

    On OSX 10.9 you may get the message "can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer." To avoid this,

    1. Navigate to the file in Finder
    2. Hold the “CTRL” button and click on the file
    3. Select “Open” from the menu
    4. At the prompt, confirm that you wish to open the file
  3. Follow the prompts to finish the installation

Step 3: Linux

No need to install any drivers, Woo Hoo!
