Introduction: K'NEX Jack Sparrow Compass

Greeting to everyone!

It has bin two year ago that i published my first Instructable, and I diddent think that I woud ever do it agian. I haddent even thot aboute my k'nex for years, until i got this idea. I made this thing and I think it is good enouch to publish, so here it is.

Before I start, lets see some copy past from the PotC wiki page on this subject.

be warned, the following text may hold spoilers from the movies, and if you did not see all the movies, but still hold interest to do so, I reccomand you not to read this.

Jack Sparrow's compass was a strange navigational instrument traded to Captain Jack Sparrow by the voodoo mystic Tia Dalma. Unlike an ordinary compass, Jack's compass proved most valuable, as it pointed to what the user wanted most. This compass would be used in many of Jack's adventures, including the search for the Treasure of Cortés, the Dead Man's Chest, and the Fountain of Youth.

The origin of this unique compass is shrouded in mystery. It was an unusual instrument as it did not point due north, like regular compasses, but rather pointed to the thing the holder wanted most at that moment. Jack Sparrow would barter the compass from the mystic Tia Dalma for a sack of gold many years prior to his return for her help, after receiving the Black Spot.

As a young pirate, Jack used the compass on several occasions. When he and Robert Greene escaped from La Vipère, the ship of the rogue pirate Christophe-Julien de Rapièr, Jack used the compass to lead them to the closest island.
When he became a merchant captain in the East India Trading Company, Jack used the compass to steer his ship, the Wicked Wench, to a protected cove where his crew gathered fresh supplies. He also used it during his search for the mythical island of Kerma, and inside the Zerzuran labyrinth.

When he returned to piracy, Jack used the compass to steer the Black Pearl to Shipwreck Island, where he became a Pirate Lord of the Caribbean Sea. In unknown circumstances, Jack lost the compass shortly before his search the Shadow Gold, but he was reunited with it after the defeat of the Shadow Lord.

That where all the interesting parts from the wiki page.

if there are any grammer nazi's or troll's in the room, may i ask you to leaf now you still can?

Thank you.

- 3 ehh... gray ring parts little brothers

edditing program used here whase Windows paint.

Step 2: Base Part

okay, this may look wired, but you got to make this, and uhm... there not mutch i can do to explane it in words i think.

ok, i just made some extra pictures that are a little less dark.

if this is to hard to make it with just these pictures, pleace tell your problem in the comment section and i'll see if i can do anything to make it a bit easyer.

Step 3: Little Thingies

first is the actual working part of the compass, that thing that tells you where to go.
if you got this done, dont place it on yet.

second are some rods that help you compass to shut propperly.
place these on the main base part as seen on the picture.

Step 4: Shaping the Main Base

here is another wired part. this is where we make a more compass like shape of the main base part.

take the left side of your compass and flip it over on top of the other.
connect all sides using the gray ring parts, as seen in picture 3 and 4.

Step 5: Making the Cover

the top part of the compass, and i think also te easyest thing you got to build for this thing.

do to my photographich skills i dont think text explenation is needed here.

Step 6: Compleeting the Compass

add the ring with the arrow on the turning ash.

you can close the compass and lock it as seen on the pictures as wel.
doing so may set the center of the top part on stress, thats why i diddent use 4 white rods insted of 2.

if you want, you can add a string to the back so you can hang in on your pirate belt.

and thats it! done it is.
now you can ask yourself the ultimate geustion...

what does you want the moste?
