Introduction: Large Mustache Bracelet—Rainbow Loom

About: I like Moose-taches.

I know people have a weird obsession with mustaches (myself included) that I can't explain, so I decided to make another mustache bracelet...only this one has one BIG mustache! Enjoy!

Step 1:

I found the design for making the Rainbow Loom Mustache in this video, so if you have trouble following my instructions, feel free to follow hers.

You will need:
Two colors of bands (one for the mustache, one for the bracelet bands around your wrist)
hooking tool
loom
two s-clips or two c-clips

Step 2:

To start, we make the first half of the mustache. We will be placing two bands between each peg, to add stability and tension to the design.

Please note the grid-style labeling for the pegs. In an attempt to avoid confusion, I will refer to pegs by these grid indicators (for example A1 is the peg in the top left corner of the picture).

Stretch two bands between A3 and B3.
Stretch two bands between B3 and B2
Stretch two bands between B2 and B1. This should form a backwards L pattern. (see picture)

Stretch two bands between B1 and C1
Stretch two bands between B2 and C2
Stretch two bands between B3 and C3. (see picture)

Stretch two bands diagonally between C1 and D2.
Stretch two bands between C2 and D2 (see picture)

Stretch two bands between C3 and D3
Stretch two bands diagonally between D2 and E3.
Stretch two bands between D3 and E3
Stretch two bands between E3 and F3
Stretch two bands between F3 and G3
Stretch two bands between G3 and H3 (see picture)

Take a single band and stretch it over C1, C2 and C3. Still holding the band, twist it and double it back over the same three pegs. This band should be wrapped twice over the pegs.
Take another single band and wrap it three times over D2 and D3 in the same manner.
Take a final single band and wrap it four times around H3. (see picture)

You're now ready to hook. Follow the purple arrows in the pattern in the previous step (the pattern on the right side). Once you get to the end, slide your hook through  the final two bands (four loops) on A3 and remove it from the loom. You now have one half of a wonderful mustache! (see picture)

Step 3:

Now we'll work on the second half of your mustache.

Place one band between D1 and C1
Place two bands between C1 and B1
Place two bands between B1 and A1
Stretch two bands between A1 and A2
Stretch two bands between A2 and A3 (see picture

Stretch two bands between A2 and B2

Stretch two bands diagonally between B1 and C2
Stretch two bands between B2 and C2
Stretch two bands between B3 and C3 (see picture)

Stretch two bands diagonally between C2 and D3
Stretch two bands between C3 and D3
Stretch two bands between D3 and E3
Stretch two bands between E3 and F3
Stretch two bands between F3 and G3 (see picture)

Stretch a single band over B1, B2 and B3, twist it, and stretch it over them again. You should have a single band looped twice over three pegs.
Stretch a single band over C2 and C3 and loop it twice more. You should have a single band looped three times over two pegs.
Loop a single band over G3 four times. (see picture)

Carefully slide the first half of your mustache off of your hooking tool and loop the ends over A3. (see picture)

Follow the purple arrows in the original diagram (left side of the page) for hooking.
Again, you can refer to the original video if you have questions.
Once you reach the last band (the single band stretched between B1 and C1), hook it from B1 to C1 and through itself. Once you remove the bands from the loom, you can pull on this loop and it should cinch tight over itself, leaving a loop sticking up from your mustache. (see picture)

Step 4:

Now that your mustache is done, we make the rest of the bracelet, which will consist of two bands. One will attach to the top of the mustache in two places, and the other will attach to the bottom in two places.

Make a single line of bands down the long edge of the loom in whatever color you want the band of your bracelet to be. (see picture)
Take the loop sticking out of the top of your mustache (the last one you cinched on itself) and carefully slide it out from underneath itself so that you have both ends of the band sticking out.
Using your hook, weave another band through the other side of the top of the mustache, mirroring the first one.
Slip these two loops over two pegs along your single chain of bands, leaving a peg between them (see picture)
Hook the chain just like a single chain on the loom. (see picture)
If you need to, simply use your hook to add more bands until it is long enough to reach around your wrist. Secure with an s-clip.

Do the same for the bottom of your mustache, linking the two bands through the lowest-most spots.
Make another chain to whichever length you need and secure it with an s-clip. (see picture)

Step 5:

You're done!

It's easy to adjust the size of the bracelet, should you need to.

I hope you enjoy your mustache bracelet!
