This is an adorable yet easy crochet pattern for a flower headband. Feel free to adjust the pattern wherever you see necessary; you can use different types or sizes of yarn, or can make the headband with elastic, or without the flower. Enjoy!

Stitches you'll need to be familiar with:

Foundation chain

Double crochet

single crochet

slip stitch

Step 1: Materials

What you'll need:

Fine yarn (size 2) (I used Cotton Fair brand in Lavender and White).

Color A: Lavender, Color B: White.

2.75 mm crochet hook
Scissors
Yarn needle

Step 2: Foundation Chain

With Color A (I used Purple), start with a foundation chain. I chained about # times to fit around my 6-year-old sister's head. Fit the chain around your head to make sure it goes all the way around and meets perfectly at the other side.

Next, slip stitch in the first chain you made to form a loop, making sure the chain isn't twisted. From here on, you'll be crocheting in the chains around the loop.

Step 3: Purple Center of the Headband

Chain three, double crochet in next two stitches. { Chain one, skip a stitch, double crochet in next three }, repeat inside the parentheses all the way around. Fasten off purple, and attach Color B (mine is white).

Step 4: Ruffle Edges of the Headband

With Color B, skip two stitches (chain-ones included). Two double crochet, chain two, two double crochet, in next stitch.

{ Skip next two stitches; two double crochet, chain two, two double crochet in next stitch }. Repeat inside the brackets all the way around. Fasten off.

Step 5: Second Side of the Headband

With the same color, attach yarn to the same place on the other side of the headband (shown in picture).

You're just going to repeat the last step around, then slip stitch to the beginning to secure. Fasten off Color B, and the main headband is complete. You can either leave it as it is, or continue with the flower.

Step 6: Smaller Flower

The flower is made of two flowers put together; the small one on top of a large one.

Here is the pattern for the smaller flower:

1. With Color B (White), chain three and slip stitch to beginning to form a loop (or make a magic ring). Here is a great tutorial on how to make a magic ring: How to Make a Magic Ring.

2. In the ring, crochet (two single crochets, chain two). Repeat inside the parentheses for a total of six times. Slip stitch to the beginning. Fasten off white, and attach purple (or Color A).

3. In the first chain-two space, (half double crochet, five double crochets, chain three, slip stitch in the first single crochet before next chain-two space). Repeat inside the parentheses around, so you should have six petals. Slip stitch to beginning. Fasten off, and your first flower is finished.

Step 7: Larger Flower

The larger flower is made completely with Color A (purple), because the center won't be seen under the smaller flower. Here is the pattern for the larger flower:

1. In a magic ring (or chain-three loop), single crochet twelve, and slip stitch to the beginning.

2. {Single crochet in next two stitches, chain two}, repeat inside the brackets for a total of six times. Slst to the beginning.

3. In first chain-two space, {Half double crochet, four double crochets, chain three, single crochet in next single crochet stitch (before the next chain-two space).} Repeat around and slip stitch to beginning. Fasten off.
