Introduction: Magnetic Paper Clip Greeting Card and Book Marker

About: I am married with two children. Spring, summer, and fall are my very favorite times of the year. I enjoy working in the yard, sewing, cooking, quilting, gardening, and creating. I do this to keep my sanity.
Here is a greeting card you can make that will be used later for a magnetic book-marker! If you are wanting to make a teacher's appreciation gift, this would be awesome! This is a good thing for people who can't draw to make. Follow through and see how easy they are to make.

Step 1: Supplies

Small scrap pieces of colored card stock paper.
1 Pencil
1 Skewer, or something thinner than a pencil (used to wrap the paper clip around.
Colored markers.
Several paper clips in chosen colors.
Tooth pick.
Magnet strip or magnetic business card.
Floppy disk metal circle or anything that a magnet will stick to.

Step 2: Tools

Scissors if you have decorative scissors that would be great!
Glue gun and glue sticks.
Needle nose pliers.
Cardboard to protect work surface.
Ruler not shown.

Step 3: Cut Card Out

Flower pot:

Mark the yellow card stock paper 3 1/2"  X 7 3/4".
Cut it out.
Cut a square from the purple paper for the vase.
Using the marker color the rim and base of the pot.
For the grass:
Using a ruler mark the pink colored card stock paper 3 1/2"  X 7 3/4".
Cut it out.
Cut out a small green rectangle for the grass.
Clip the grass into strips as shown.

Fold the card in half.

Step 4: Magnet

Glue the magnet and metal circle on the inside of the card.

Step 5: Bending the Flower

There are no hard and fast rules for bending these paper clips. It  will take a few tries, but if I can do it, you can do it.
Wrap the red and yellow paper clip around the pencil and skewer as shown.
Clip off excess from the yellow paper clip.
Using the needle nose pliers remove the clips.
Flatten the circles with the pliers.
Insert the yellow clip into the center of the red clip.
Flatten again carefully not to scar the finish.

Step 6: Bending the Stem and Leaf

Straighten one of the green clips using the pliers.
Cut off some of it because it is too long.
Using the pliers wrap the longer part around the skewer to form a small circle at the end.
Slightly pull apart another green clip with your fingers.
See the pictures to bend the stem and leaf.

Step 7: Glue

Glue the stem to the card allowing enough room at the bottom for the grass or flower pot.
Glue the leaf.
Glue the flower.
Glue the pot or grass.

Step 8: Sunshiine's Final Thoughts

I was very pleased with the cards. They were easy to make and the card will be used again for a book-marker.
