Introduction: Make a Chicken/duck/bird Plucker

About: Too much free time! I miss you Kristian Rebecca Tower .Remember The Kristian Taryn Rose bush . Here are a few new ones you would like. Loves Ya!

Get a piece of drainage pipe 4 inches diammeter (100)mm and make two timber ends for it about 3/4 invh thick . Put the ends in the tube and glue and screw one end in and just screw the other end at this time .

Now drill a hole exactly in the center of each end . Take a piece of say 1/2 inch steel rod about 2 foot long . Drill the end holes wider to accomodate the steel rod through the center. and have one end about 2 inches out and the other as long as you wish. On the short end you must place an electric drill to drive the plucker so a rectangle of steel is used with a center hole to suit the rod and two smaller side holes to accomodate screws into the timber.

Put it all together and tack weld the rectangle to the rod. Then pull it all apart that will come apart and permanently weld the drive rod . It helps to put a flat face on this for the drill to bite into . A hexagonal set of flats is ideal.

Supplies

Needed

1 foot of 4 inch plastic drainage pvc pipe.

2 circles of 3/4 inch wood 4 inches in diameter

Glue and screws

24 Rubber plucking fingers from Ali-express

Variable speed electric drill with hold button on trigger.

About 18 inches of 1/2 inch steel rod.

Step 1: Step 1: Plucking Fingers

Now Take the round plastic barrel and divide it into 6 equal sections or arcs. Draw a line end to end on each mark . drill 4 small holes along the line ready for the rubber plucking fingers. drill the next line but set it in 3/4 of an inch so the fingers are not all in the same line when it rotates.

Order 24 rubber fingers on ebay or ali-express and wait 4 weeks for delivery. Now measure the inner diameter of the groove on the fingers . Drill all plastic holes to that dimension ,put a little rubber grease on each fingers lead up to the groove.

Now from inside insert the fingers one at a time pulling through until the finger groove snaps into place. now you can glue the second end in place and rescrew it.

Step 2: Step 2: Make a Holder

Cut 3 pieces of 3/4 ply ,2 ends and a bottom piece and a couple of battens for the corner supports. Glue and screw the battens to the end pieces and then glue and screw to the base piece and leave to set for a few days.

With a jigsaw ,cut a half circle in one side to suit the drill you wish to use. Get a copper saddle or similar piece of metal and place over the other side of the drills neck and screw down . The longer piece of bar can similarly be screwed down but does not need a half circle cut out . Just a saddle over it.

Step 3: Step 3: How to Use

Put the base on a saw horse or something solid and clamp it down . Turn on the variable speed drill and set it to a suitable speed . Pull the trigger on and press the hold button so it just keeps going .

Get your dead chook/duck/etc and dip it in hot water made with the ratio of 2 of boiling to 1 of cold.

count to 10 or so then offer it to the plucker . Adjust the dip time and the plucker speed to suit yourself.

Plucking Hell.
