Introduction: Makey Makey Dance Revolution

This mat was made to be used with one Makey Makey Kit. For a fun games night use two kits and make a second mat, that way you and your friends can compete. Check out our Scratch game which we customized to be used with our mat!

Step 1: Step 1: Collect Your Supplies

  • Aluminium duct tape
  • Bristol board
  • Wire
  • Scissors
  • Electrical tape
  • Paint / makers / pens / pencils
  • 1 Makey Makey Kit

Step 2: Step 2: Cut and Strip Wire

Cut 4 pieces of wire to around three feet long

Strip about an inch of rubber coating off each end

Cut a fifth piece of wire longer than the first pieces ( this will be your ground) and strip about an inch of rubber coating off each end

Step 3: Step 3: Cut Aluminum Tape

Size up your piece of bristol board and cut 8 pieces of aluminum tape all the same length.

Step 4: Step 4: Assemble

Lay your cut pieces of tape where they will go on the board. We used two pieces for each side so that they were wider.

Peel back paper on tape and stick exposed end of wire to the tape, now stick the tape in place.

Repeat step for each side.

Step 5: Step 5: Decorate

Once you have your mat assembled, it is time to decorate.

Step 6: Step 6: Attach Makey Makey

Attach a makey makey alligator clip to the end of each wire. Clip the other end of the clip to the Makey Makey board.

Attach the fifth wire to the Makey Makey board on the ground section.
