Introduction: Money in Your Pocket (and Help the Enviornment Too)

This Instructable teaches you how to save some money since the times are tough...

Step 1: Conserve Your Gasoline

Since the price of gas is at an all time high, here are a few steps that I use while I am driving to save and improve my Miles Per Gallon(MPG). The first is to NOT accelerate down any hills just roll down them you will pick up enough speed and use less gas because your engine is doing little to no work. Also try to keep a very steady pace(by not braking or accelerating) just try and glide along at the same speed this also improves your MPG.

Step 2: Carpooling

Carpooling is another great way to save some money on gasoline. Carpooling is when two or more people drive to work together in the same vehicle. Yuo can have the person(s) chip in for gas monday if you are always the driver or switch off driving.
Also this helps the environment...

Step 3: Ride a Bike

Instead if taking your car everywhere you go, you can ride a bike or even walk. Riding a bike down the street to the local supermarket, or a few times to work a month you can save gas and get good exercise. The more you ride a bike the more you save money on gas, even if you do it 2 times a month, than you can still save about $10 a month or more... Also this helps the environment...

Here is a Formula that you can use to see how much money you can save:

$3.15(Price of gas) x 2(how many times a month you ride a bike)
x 1(how much gas it takes to get to and from work)= $6.30(savings)

Step 4: Collect Your Cans

Save your soda cans after you drink them instead of throwing them away or sticking them in the regular recycling bucket. I use trash bags and just rinse out the cans after you use them and stick them in the trash bag. After you have collected a sufficient amount then head to your local supermarket or package store(liquor store) and turn them in you get 5 cents for every can and I average about $15 every month and a half. This takes little effort and can get some cash back in your pocket.
Also this helps the environment...

Step 5: Sell Your Unused Belongings

This step is pretty self-explanatory, just go around your house/ living area and get a collection of items that you do not use any more with permission of anyone else that you may live with. You can sell these items on various websites such as Ebay.com or Craigslist.com...

WARNING: DO NOT SELL ANYTHING THAT DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU!!!! THIS IS STEALING AND IS A CRIME!!!

Step 6: Hope This Helps
