My Machine Breimachine - Spool Knitting

Bouw je eigen gerecyclede punnik- en breimachientje van alledaagse materialen. In deze Instructable gaan we de weefmachine zelf maken en daarna leggen we uit hoe je die kan gebruiken. Het is heel simpel, iedereen kan het! Je hebt nodig: een toiletrolletje, 4 paperclips, duct tape en decoratie tape.

With this Instructable you can build your own spool knitting machine from everyday materials. First you are going to make the tool and then we will explain how your can use it, It's quite simple, anyone can do this! To make this you will need: a toiletpaper roll, 4 paperclips, duct tape and some decoration tape.

Step 1: Paperclips Bevestigen - Fix the Paperclips

Bevestig de 4 paperclips met duct-tape aan de buitenkant van het toiletrolletje. Zorg dat iedere paperclip stevig vast zit. Buig iedere paperclip nu voorzichtig naar buiten toe over de rand van het toiletrolletje.

Tape the four paperclips to one end of the toilet roll. Make sure that every paperclip is well attached. Now gently bend every clip to the outside over the edge of the toilet roll.

Step 2: Beetje Opvrolijken - Decorate It

Je hebt nu van je toilletrolletje je eigen punnikmachientje gemaakt! Vind je grijze duct tape saai? Gebruik dan decoratie tape in je lievelingskleur om je eigen twist te geven aan je punnikmachientje.

Your spool knitting machine is now ready to be used, but don't you think that grey duct tape is a little boring? Weel, just use some decorating tape in you favorite color to give you machine a twist.

Step 3: Wat Kan Je Mee Maken? How to Use It?

Je kunt nu aan de slag. Je hebt nodig: je zelfgemaakte punnik machientje (uit deel 1), twee verschillende kleuren dikke wol, meetlint en een schaar. Meet minimaal 150 cm wol af in verschillende kleuren. Knip de draden af met een schaar.

You can now start working with your little spool knitting machine. You also need two different kinds of thick wool, a measuring tape and a pair of scissors. Measure a minimum of 150 cm of wool in the two different colors. Cut the threads with the scissors.

Step 4: Begin - Start

Maak een lusje in de draden en haak deze over een van de paperclips. Lus daarna om de andere paperclips draad. Zorg dat de draad aan de binnenkant van je punnikmachientje blijft.

Maak twee rondjes met beide draden om de 4 paperclipjes om het punnikje vast te zetten. Maak het patroon zoals op de foto.

Make a loop in both threads and hook these on one of the paperclips. Then make a loop around the other paperclips. Keep the threads on the inside of your machine.

Make two rounds with both threads around the four paperclips to fix your knitting work. Create the pattern as show on the second photograph.

Step 5: Eerste Draden

Neem de onderste twee draden, trek ze over de bovenste twee draden over de paperclip heen. Trek zacht aan de draad die onderuit je punnikmachientje komt en trek deze strak. Herhaal dit bij alle paperclips tot je ze alle drie gehad hebt.

Take the lower two threads and pull those over the upper two thread over the paperclip. Pull softly on the thread that sticks out from you machine to tighten them. Repeat this for all paperclips until you had them all three.

Step 6: Verder Weven - Weaving Further

Neem één van de twee draden en herhaal het patroon. Nu pak je de onderste twee draden, trek ze over de bovenste draad heen en over de paperclip. Herhaal deze techniek tot je alle 4 de paperclips hebt gehad.

Take one of the two threads and repeat the pattern. Now take the lower two threads, pull them over the upper thread and over the paperclip. Repeat this technique until you have done all 4 paperclips.

Step 7: Het Echte Werk - the Real Work

Het punnikje zit vast! Dat betekent dat je nu kunt beginnen met het echte werk. Neem de andere kleur draad en herhaal de methode uit de vorige stap. Herhaal de punnik techniek en wissel af met de verschillende kleuren tot al het draad bijna opgebruikt is. Haal de draden door de laatste lussen.

The spool knitting work is now fixed! This means you can start the real job. Take another color thread and repeat the method used in the last step. Repeat the technique and change the colors until you have used almost the complete threads of wool. Take the threads through the last loops.

Step 8: Eindproduct - the Final Work

Tenslotte: leg een knoop om het punnikje vast te zetten. Je kan nu je vinger erin steken. Hoe dikker de wol, hoe meer je vinger bedekt is. Je kunt nu je eigen poppetje gaan maken! Van een astronaut tot een ballerina of je lievelingsdier. Alles kan en niets is te gek! Zorg dat je genoeg decoratiematerialen hebt om mee aan de slag te gaan.

To end the work make a knot. You can now put your finger in it. The thicker the wool, the more of your finger will be covered by it. You can make your own puppet from it now, just the way you would like it. If you have enough decoration materials you can work on the end product as much as you like. Have fun!
