Introduction: Music Playing Mobile With Glowing Multi-Colored Paper Stars!
I had never made anything like this before and I thought it would be fun to create! It was!
Step 1: Supplies Needed
Plastic to cover work surface
white paper
8 colors of neon paint
paint brushes
3 star shaped cookie cutters in different sizes
yellow thread
scissors
Christmas hook
fishing swivel
metal wreath form
paper reinforcements
ruler
mobile turning music box (battery operated) with a link chain
Step 2: Make the Stars
You will need 12 rows of 10 stars in the 3 sizes, making 120 stars. Trace the cookie cutters on the white paper and cut each one out.
Step 3: Attach the Stars
Cut 12 3-foot lengths of yellow thread for the stars and 12 13-inch lengths for the top of the mobile. Tape the stars onto the 3 foot lengths of thread with paper reinforcements. You may arrange the stars at different spots on the strings so the stars are not perfectly even. This makes for a more interesting look!
Step 4: The Top of the Mobile
Carefully tie the 12 13-inch pieces of yellow thread along the top of the wreath form. Gather the tops together and tie a knot, being careful that they are all centered nicely. Cut off the excess threads at the top and on the wreath form.
Step 5: Paint the Stars
Place the strings of stars on the plastic. Paint both sides of the stars with the neon paint colors of your choice. This mobile has 8 colors. The large ones are blue and green. The medium are yellow and white. The small are purple, orange, dark pink and salmon. Give each one 2 coats of paint.
Step 6: Tying the Strings of Stars
Tie knots at the top of each string to the wreath form and cut the excess thread.
Step 7: Attach the Music Box
Attach the chained mobile music box with the Christmas hook and fishing swivel to the top of the mobile.
Step 8: The Finished Mobile
This is how it looks in regular lighting.
Step 9: It's Perfect!
This is how it looks and works in a room with a black light! I am very happy with the results and it was so fun to create!!!
