This is a quick and easy project that anyone can do. Since it's no-sew there is not a lot of supplies or equipment needed for the project so it is quite inexpensive to make. This particular Memory Pillow is for my niece who recently lost her husband. This was one of his favorite t-shirts that I transformed into a family momento that they will cherish for years to come.

Supplies

T-shirt; foam pillow-form; scissors; ruler; Magic Marker (not shown)

Step 1:

Lay out the t-shirt on a flat working surface, working out any wrinkles. Iron the t-shirt, if needed.

Step 2:

Place the foam pillow form in the center of the t-shirt, making sure it covers all or most of the design.

Step 3:

With the marker, put a dot at each corner of the pillow form and along the sides to mark the size and shape of the pillow.

Step 4:

Measure 2 to 3 inches from edge of pillow form to mark area where you'll cut out the t-shirt.

Step 5:

Mark area to be cut with dots ... 2 to 3 inches from original dots. This will indicate where to cut. There's no need to be precise as this is a very forgiving project and any mistakes can be easily disguised.

Step 6:

Next, with scissors, clip out all four corners as shown in picture. This step makes tying the strips along the corners much easier. Next, clip 1/4 to 1/2 inch strips along the 2 to 3 inch border, all the way around. Make sure to clip both layers together so the strips match on each side. (You will be tying these strips together to finish the pillow so they should be fairly uniform. )

Step 7:

Separate the 2 layers and place the pillow form in the middle of the bottom layer.

Step 8:

Place the top layer, face side up, on top of the pillow form. Try to arrange all the strips so they match. Again, this does not have to be perfect, but try your best to match them up.

Step 9:

Starting along one corner, tie the co-ordinating strips (top and bottom) in a double knot, easing the pillow into place as you go. Some movement of the pillow form is possible and is ok.

Step 10:

And you're done!!!! In no time at all, and with little effort, you've created a family treasure ..... a momento of a loved one.
