Introduction: Paper Sculpture

Hello!!

In this instructable I will show you how to make this beautiful Paper sculpture. It's really easy and a fun project to do.

I hope you will like it..

Step 1: Supplies

For this project you will need-

  1. Human face mold or you can use doll as i did.
  2. Tissue paper, newspaper.
  3. Glue.
  4. Water.
  5. Scissor.
  6. Tape.
  7. Foil paper.
  8. Brush.
  9. Photo Frame
  10. Hardboard.
  11. Card stock paper (any color)
  12. Gauze fabric
  13. Beads for decoration.

Step 2: Making Paper Mask Part 1

Push the stack of sheets onto the face. Push down as hard as possible. Do it carefully, so the foil does not become punctured. Check you have the general outline of the face imprinted: nose, lips, corners of eyes and cheekbones. Cut tissue paper into strips & paste the tissue strips on the face with glue.

Step 3: Making Paper Mask Part 2

Now cut newspaper into small strips and cover the face with glue. Leave it for few hours (1 day if needed).

Let it dry completely between layers. It's
Then pull the mask out carefully & trim the edges.

Step 4: Using Paper Mache Clay

At this point you will need to use paper clay. Paper clay is a cheap, handy sculpting material made from toilet paper. To make the clay you will need strips of toilet paper, same amount of PVA glue (white school glue) & water. Shred up thin white tissue paper and put it into water until it becomes mushy. Then pick up the paper and squeeze out as much water as you can. Add same amount of PVA glue (white school glue) & water and mix the paper pulp well. If you still see some lumps, use a fork or your fingers (with the mixer turned off!) to break them apart, and then mix some more. Your paper clay is now ready to use. It will look a bit like cookie dough – but don’t eat it!

Now cover the mask with the clay .

Step 5: Finishing

Mix same amount of glue & water in a bowl. Soak Gauze fabric (you can use Gauze pads) into the mixture.
Now cover the mask with 2/3 layers of wet gauze fabric. Make some flower shape by simply rolling the fabric. Sharp the facial features by your fingers or other shaping tools. Here I used small knife to shape the nose and lips and eye shape by add some clay on eye area if needed.

Let it dry..
Here the glue, water mixer will work as fabric hardener. After drying, cut off extra paper from back.

Now take a hardboard and cover it with card stock paper. Add your sculpture on it by glue..

Finish!!!

you can fit it in a photo frame if you want. Remove the glass from the frames & glue the sculpture to the inside of the back of the frame.

(You can use other fabric ,beads as well to decorate your sculpture).

Enjoy!!!
