So Christy, my dearest came back from Poundland with a whole bunch of picture frames, us having got some prints of our brand new family done.

I couldn't find anything convenient bar my staple gun, which seemed unwise, given the ridiculously thin backing and plastic frames.

I made some makeshift hooks using paperclips, purple paperclips to match the purple wall that spurred the buying of said picture frames.

This solution actually worked out really well, the pictures hang straight and simply, though I put up the nails first and had to clip the heads a little for the paperclips, since I was using nails with a slightly bigger head than I normally would.

By the way Poundland's photos frames, totally passable - trim the moulding flash and don't look too closely, they're fine.

Step 1: Bend a Paperclip

Bend the paperclip like above, just lifting one end up, so there's a hoop for hooking, a hooking hoop if you will.

You don't really need any tools but you'll make a neater more uniform job with pliers or like me, carpenters pincers.

If you're doing a bunch of them, aim for uniformity.

Step 2: Find the Middle

Find and mark the middle of the frame, you don't need to be millimetre accurate here, but as close as possible.

Step 3: Glue It to It

Get the paperclip centred on your centre mark and lined up so the hooking hoop is just shy of the top edge of the frame.

Hold it in place and glue - there are plenty of glues that would work but I had left my glue gun out from doing the dinosaur coathooks

When the glue's dry it's time to hang it up.

Step 4: Hanging

Hanging these is actually really easy, better than string in some ways.

This would never work for a heavy picture, unless you used the same trick with something other than a paperclip but for small/light photos and frames it's a quick fix that should prove to be permanent - it's also really, really quick.

By the way, the photo in hanging, christy printed it from her computer but if anyone knows where it happened to come from, I'd rather she had a decent sized, decent quality one.
