Introduction: Portal Discouragement Redirection Cube Light

I am ten years old and after hearing about the game Portal, I looked into it, and I had a bunch of ideas. But this light idea was the best, so I decided to put it on Instructables. After spending some time in Michaels, I found a cube shaped tissue box, and I made my useful cube light. What you'll need: 2 Durable, Cuttable Boxes Frosted Plastic Material Wire Hot Glue Gun and Glue White and Silver Acrylic Paints Tape LEDs Scissors Knife

Step 1: Cutting

For cutting your box, you will probably want to use an X- Knife. I used scissors, and they work just as well. Take a pencil and make a perfect X on the box. Measure the radius of the dowel object you are going to trace, and mark it from the center of your X. Trace a dowel object by the mark to get the circle perfectly aligned. When you're cutting, I recommend scoring before cutting.

Step 2: Painting

For painting, you're going to want to mix the silver or grey paint with the white. The ratio is about 85% silver/grey and 15% white. This ratio is used for painting the outside of the box. Once you have finished this, it's time to move onto the inside. For the inside, you're going to want about a 95:5 ratio(silver/grey to white). Once all of the painting is done, it's drawing time! Take a sharpie and outline all of the edges. After that, make lines to the holes like shown in the picture.

Step 3: The Windows

The windows are harder than they look to make. Anyway, so take the frosted material and cut 4 holes in it about 3/4 of the size of the holes in the box. The last one you want to cut about a third the size of the ones in the box. Once all the holes are cut out, take the wire and cut it to about the size in the picture. Tape or hot glue them to the circles and then to the box to make the windows like shown. TIP: Although hot glue looks much better than, tape, tape works SO much better!

Step 4: Corners

The corners are really simple. All you have to do is cut out 20 pieces of cardboard that look like the second picture. Then hot glue them to the box to make the corners. Don't forget to paint them. The same color as the inside of the box works pretty well

Step 5: Finishing Up

Now all you have to do is put the LEDs inside of the box and mount them to make the light. Hoped you liked it.
