Introduction: Potato to Print

I've a;ways wanted to try this, but never got around to it. Then it occurred to me that this might be something that could work for a 'before and after'. Potato to print.

Step 1: Materials

This did not take much in the way of materials- the only thing I had to buy was the potato!

a couple of knives and an exacto

a pencil and paintbrushes

some paints and/or an ink pad (ink pad not in photo)

a potato

Step 2: Split the Potato

This isn't half and half, but I thought that having a bigger half would give me more potato to carve on. It's hard to see in the photo, but the flower pattern is drawn on with a regular pencil.

Step 3: Carve the Flower

I used an exacto to carve the flower pattern, then switched to a bigger knife to clean up around the edges.

Step 4: Try It Out!

I was surprised at how well it printed. To do the paint print, I just used acrylics and brushed the paint directly on the stamp.
