Introduction: Pottery Barn Inspired Table Lamp Base

A take on recycling a cardboard food container into an awesome looking table lamp, looks like i have succeeded, Looking for inspiration I found just what i wanted on Pottery Barn shop site, though the quality will be of no match, the satisfaction of diy is what made the project.

There is no step by step for this project, but i will included what all is done to that cardboard food container!

Step 1: Things Needed

Card board food container (Quaker oats,Tang)

Metallic spray paint to obtain the mercury like look or any color to explore

Lamp wiring Kit

Puffy paint

Lamp shades or diy-ed shades

Exacto Knife or the cutter (smaller, sharper the better)

Dollar storepebbles to add weight

1.I started with removing the product lable and exposing the cardboard as neat as possible. It was not difficult in any way, but be cautious that cardboard itself is not ripped!

2.This thing needed patience! Adding the puffy paint. This adds the texture and life to the plain surface. I chose a geometric stencil design, laid it on and outlined all the shapes on the cardboard surface with pencil and gathered all the patience needed to cover all the pencil lines with the puffy paint! The circular surface adds to the complexity, but once its done it looked great! Spayed with the metallic spray paint twice to cover all the area including the lid!

3. For wiring read the instructions on the kit and went along with it. Had to made two holes to insert the wire with just a sharp knife, one on the lid and another near the bottom of the container. The wires needed to be inserted before the socket is put together. I wised up little late!

4. Place the shade and its done! To add some weight to the container drop a sac of pebble or a cleaned up stone from the yard.

Hope this project inspires you! :)

I will try to add a step by step tutorial if possible
